To the unsuspecting, it's possible that the above just seems to be theory. However, to some extent, although the precise extent is debatable, it has been verified by Fermilab who observed the creation of a matter/anti-matter particle pair in a vessel containing a vacuum which had been cooled to as close to zero kelvin as makes no odds.

Because a matter/anti-matter particle pair is created, it does not violate any of the physical laws of the universe.

Well I can assure you that my comments were not a cobbled together pile of shite. Fermilab created a vessel from which they spent over a week extracting all the matter and cooling it to within a whisker of zero kelvin. The result was a near-perfect vacuum in which they observed the 'creation' of a particle anti-particle pair which, of course, annihilated each other a short time after their creation.

This was taken as an indication that 'Nothing' is unstable and may be the reason we are all here. Of course, why 'Nothing' should be unstable is another matter which remains unanswered AFAIK.
