hello from the buckle of the bible belt

Man, i finally found a home! been looking around this site for a couple weeks now and finally took the plunge. I'm a 44 yo male from the buckle of the bible belt, Oklahoma city.I have been a respiratory therapist for 20 years. I was lucky enough to have parents that did'nt push religion on me too much. Pretty much enlightened myself over the years. As far as being an atheist i only came out of the closet a few years ago so i hope you guys will take it easy on me for a bit. but anyway, I'm looking forward to some great disourse with some very knowledgable champions of reason and free thinking.

p.s. ghoul,stern,choobas,kate,you guys have become my heroes!

Welcome, fellow reasoner.

It is nice to be appreciated, thank you. Ghoul, Stern, Choobus and Kate are my heroes too.

You know, there may be some slight difficulty about your chosen handle, don't you? I have a little problem trying to pronounce it in a polite way. Ah, well, these things shake out with time.

Where do you stand on the separation of church and state?

Welcome, shtmag. Hope you enjoy it here.

By the way, I mostly agree with your list, except for choobas. I'm more partial towards Choobus myself.

Welcome aboard, Sir! Stern, Choobas, and Kate are my heroes too! (I just can't convince any of them to go down on me.)

Not that I would (without a great deal of provocation), I don't recall you really trying very hard.

You're probably right. I keep confusing you with the cute little Mexican lady from the supermarket who is always in my nightly erotic fantasies - the lady, not the supermarket. I really need to start taking better notes.

sorry stern, I should have clarified that, I shortened an old nickname I had when I worked in the ER. It seemed every time I was assigned there we would get all kinds of bad stuff so every one called me shit magnet. lol

Seperation of church and state? I believe thats why the founding fathers put it at the top of the list. Must be maintained at all costs!

::sniff::

One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.
H. L. Mencken

Is her name Sternwallow in Spanish perchance? I really don't see another connection. Sternwallow is such a popular name worldwide...
