Ah, us heathens from across the pond are probably not much help, but I'm sure there's a ton of advice to be sought from the gang of USAers who dislike the Buybull Thumpers with equal venom.

Stop the Holy See men!

Are you speaking of any specific events when you say you want them to "lay off you?" or are you referring to the pervasive odor of religion which seems to overlay much of the activity in that area?

They constantly try to talk God into me but most of the time it ends with them being dumbfounded by my philosophy/ies. Even preachers can't find words and end up saying "you just got to have faith". I'm pretty much alone in my "neck of the woods"

Well, that's the crux of it. Once you hear: "You have to have faith," you know you've reached to point beyond which they have reasoned. It's just that they have been brainwashed into having a handy little retreat, which is, in reality, an admission of the fact that what they believe is not reasonable.

You may find if you persist past that point you will be rewarded with name calling and, my favorite, character assault.

Yes, I don't believe in God so I must not have morals. Morals are owned by religion, everyone knows this.

Actually everyone does not know this. I have a post somewhere on here where I found that it is thought that morality developed before religion did. I will look for that post.

That was a joke. My favorite thing to confuse them with is:
A: What divides daylight from darkness?
C: The spherical shape of the Earth
A: After god created the Earth, why did he need to divide them himself?
C:....
A: Maybe its because people used to think the Earth was flat.
They don't like the fact that even the creation story has inevitable flaws

The flaws in the bible are strategically put in place to improve one's faith!

Sorry, I picked up that gem from the forum's most recent resident retard.

They use their faith to try to explain the unexplainable but it seems like their faith is the most unexplainable thing of all

Faith never needs proof. Funny that. In fact you can have faith in anything you want and all you need to do is have that "faith".

I wasn't saying faith is unexplainable by definition but by the way people use it as a shield to believe what is impractical.

By definition, faith IS unexplainable. Especially definition #2:
