Catholic Church hates Amnesty

Amnesty International seriously pissed off the muppets in the Church a few weeks back when it passed a motion at its AGM supporting abortions for the victims of rape and incest, and for cases where the pregnancy endangered the woman's life. Now the church in Northern Ireland is starting to advise schools to disband their AI groups; apparently it's more important to force rape victims to give birth than it is to fight agianst other injustices. I'm a member of the AI group here in the UK and as a whole we have quite a few church-going members. From the experience in my local group there doesn't seem to have been too much fall-out from this decision, but it's still early days yet. |

I joined amnesty as a result of all this.
I thought that they especially need my support right now, and so I joined. And also it makes me very happy to get back at the catholic church. Healthy genes act as team-players. They are teamish! Their winning plays are salvations of an aliveness of which they are a part. Only a fraction of genes are selfish/parasitic (and they parasitize teams). |

 Are you thinking of joining a local group, too? Our one's really active and we get up to loads of cool stuff- like last month we had a stall at a mini-festival and we marched in the local Gay Pride parade (there were about half a dozen |

how do you find out about local groups?
If your calculator adds your inputs 2 and 3 and gets 5, but the real problem you were trying to solve was 2 plus 2, the machine gives the wrong answer for your problem. In the UK the main Amnesty site has this page...
http://www.amnesty.org.uk/listgroups.asp ...where you type in your post code to find your local group. The US site has this page... http://www.amnestyusa.org/activism/groups/index.jsp ...which gives you a list of states and the name of the town a group is in. Some of the groups have links to their websites but from my quick look around most don't seem to. Apart from that you could try phoning up the AI USA headquarters and get them to give you the contact details; http://www.amnestyusa.org/About_Us/C...005&n1=2&n2=21 Hope that helps! |
