yeah. and i want to see my dogs put on a disgusted face when i put the local news on tv. if they walk out of the room, i want to see bipedalism too.
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.
H. L. Mencken

No one mentioned it here, maybe because we can't seem to get away from the story, but of course Steve Jobs is dead. Richard Stallman made the critical remark of Jobs following his death (the first one I've heard). The page with the post has crashed from the weight of looky lous but here is the quote
Quote:
"Steve Jobs, the pioneer of the computer as a jail made cool, designed to sever fools from their freedom, has died.
As Chicago Mayor Harold Washington said of the corrupt former Mayor Daley, "I'm not glad he's dead, but I'm glad he's gone." Nobody deserves to have to die - not Jobs, not Mr. Bill, not even people guilty of bigger evils than theirs. But we all deserve the end of Jobs' malign influence on people's computing.
Unfortunately, that influence continues despite his absence. We can only hope his successors, as they attempt to carry on his legacy, will be less effective."

Since we can't get to the link, what exactly is the issue that this guy had with Steve Jobs?

This guy? This random citizen?
Stallman, I believe, disliked what he perceived to be Jobs profiting on people's ignorance and fear - ignorance and fear that he actively worked to perpetrate in the interest of sales.
Jobs was, in my opinion, selling convenience to the technically uninterested - though I didn't like him much, it was for different reasons than the mighty Stallman. I think Jobs was a good designer and a good salesman, but he was an abusive boss, a lawsuit happy copyright troll, a lobbyist, and a shitty father.
It also bothered me that he linked the stuff he was selling to revolutionary civil rights movements as though owning an ipod was somehow related to apartheid.

Well, the worm has certainly turned on him now. Rotten apples no matter how you look at it, huh?

nkb, Stallman is basically against software copyright, a founder of GNU, an advocate for free software.
