The "EXPLAIN QUANTUM REALITY" Challenge!
Welcome to the EXPLAIN QUANTUM REALITY CHALLENGE Thread! :D:D:D
Here is a chance for all physicists here to tell us like it is!
Here's the challenge!
Explain quantum reality in a really short post, no bigger than a screen's length.
Yep!
And don't say "go do the math"
It ain't going to happen!
Here is a REAL challenge!
If you have that much space to get across *something*, what would you get across?
Here is your chance to show what a fabulous teacher you are!
Go shine people! :D:D:D
Healthy genes act as team-players. They are teamish!
Their winning plays are salvations of an aliveness of which they are a part.
Only a fraction of genes are selfish/parasitic (and they parasitize teams).

Nothing is certain. Everything is derived from probability. And there is no such thing as nothing.

What is the scientific basis for this statement???

Quantum physics. Even the sparsest vacuum must contain energy. Do you comprehend the uncertainty of quantum theory? The exact position of a particle can never be known. Therefore, at quantum levels, spacetime cannot be energy-free. There must always be motion to offset the complementary uncertainty in position. This is sometimes called the quantum foam, a generic term for the high-probability virtual particles that Lurck at Planck scales.
And as you know, Energy and Matter are two sides of the same coin, therefore all spacetime must not be "nothing", or it would conflict with quantum theory, the most accurately observed theory in the history of science.

Simple. Jesus died for our sins, and we have to hold faith in him for our souls to survive.
But in all seriousness, we have been discussing quantum physics in Chemistry class. I heard some weird things about it, like for instance, he said that if there were a hole in your roof and you wanted to fix it up so rain wouldn't get in, you would patch it up, right? In a quantum physical world, you would make another hole.
Any way to explain this?

>Thank you.
Part of my argument for the existence of Nothing or more appropriate that Nothing is Nonexistence.
was always
If you take a cube meter out away from the gravity well in the mirco-gravity and suck everything out of it there would still be something there, namely, spacetime.
I never tied it in with Quantum Theory because my depth of understanding never got that far.
And your explanation of a 'quantum foam' makes sense.
Thank you again.
Now allow me to parrot it back to ensure understanding.
The Uncertainty Principle says a particles position is probabilistic at best and because it is probabilistic, it is in motion and because it is in motion, it has energy and because energy and matter are basically the same thing separated by the (speed of light) squared, then something has to exists in that complete vacuum we call spacetime.
Whew, that was a brain stain, did I get it or do I need remedial?
To clarify, when I talk about Nothing, I talk about the absence of everything including spacetime.
So I ask:
Is not Quantum Theory looking at the Universe in a 'relatively' stable state? That is, Big Bang, Universe cools and expands, and what exists now is relatively stable in a slow expansion sort of way. And the only place we see any real instability is at the atomic and sub-atomic levels where the Uncertainty Principle kicks in.
So what was before the Big Bang? And what is outside the slow expanding bubble we call the Universe?

Potential forces contained in 11 dimensional strings, which can go back in time at each big bang, making infinity understandable. :)
Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

remember, the uncertainty is NOT a measurement problem, although it often manifests itself as such (if you use a photon to detect the poisition of a aprticle you change it's momentum). The uncertainty is inherrant: the non-commuting variable pairs (position-momentum, energy-time etc) cannot be known because they don't exist. Thus, uncertainty is a built in feature of the quantum universe and not simply God's way of protecting his secrets (as I have heard claimed: the same cockmuncher also claimed that the the speed of light was fixed by god to prevent us from nosing around the universe! I guess God keeps his porn in another Galaxy. I'd put with intergalactic travel to see the porn of the gods....)

now we're into M theory, eh??? Slices of bread, each containing it's own universe. So are you saying that no matter where we look there is something???

It could be for our benefit: who knows what would happen if one were to see god's porn. YOu might end up wanking yourself to death.
And don't forget what happened to those nazis in raiders of the lost ark when they tried to take a gander at jesus's porn stash. I've heard his dad is way more hardcore.

Whoa, have I've been out of touch... so when did they rasie the speed limit??? I thought old fuzzy head said that was fixed because of mass increasing as you approached it or somethig. Or are we just talking about the ol' tachyon can do bit???
I mean, if the speed limits off, that means the Milky Way is ours to explore. Coooool... Well, at least where the neighbors let us. I mean they may frown on the new kids in the old beat up pick up.

if there is no spacetime, knowing how long nothing exists is impossible
