Hi y'all!

I'm Alice from West Central Texas. Nice to talk to people who feel the same way I do. I'll be coming here often.

I thought it was spelled Tex-ass, and having read the recent Rethuglican manifesto, it could be getting worse. Is the place as religiously retarded as it's portrayed?
Have fun and feel free to cuss & rant.

Welcome to the forum, Alice.

You'll find that while most of us generally agree on 'The God Question', we do have different opinions on other topics and we aren't afraid to voice our respective opinions, whether it's popular or not.

btw- How do you like Texas? A friend of mine moved down there last summer to start a church.

Hello. Welcome to the forum.

I love the 'hi y'all' thing. I can't help it, from this moment on every time you post it will be read in the style of Daisy Duke, not Jessica Simpson, the proper one.

You might be surprised, but I'm not a "true" Texan, meaning I wasn't born here. I'm a "transplant". I'm originally from Vermont, but enlisted in the Air Force in 1977 and retired here. It was my last assignment, I retired here, and I decided I like it so I stayed. I lived in San Antonio when I got out of basic training then went on to several other places over 20 years. I'm not about to go up north again, I hate winter, although my assignment before this was in extreme northern Maine, and if you want winter, that's the place to go.

As for a Texas accent, the only word I've ever picked up is "y'all". The stuff like "fixinde" (fixing to, which is strange in itself, because you don't fix to do anything), just never comes out of my mouth.

Sorry psycho. Didn't mean to. I just don't talk "Texan". Didn't pick it up when I lived in San Antonio and I haven't picked it up here either, and I've been here 18 years. Guess I have too much Vermonter in me.

Fair enough. Just so you know though you will always be Daisy Duke in my head now.

Winter is a glorious season! Nothing like getting frost-bitten 5 minutes after being outdoors.

Here there's nothing like being fried 5 minutes after you go out the door as it's 105 outside.
