Fast fod is certainly a big contributer to obesity, but I fail to see how fast food and genetics connect.

It is as simple as people who genetically have a slower metabolism (unfortunately I am one so its a 15km run every am), get fat because the lifestyle they choose.
Now as this trend becomes more apparent, and obesity is more commonplace you will have people with slow metabolism breeding together, they will have a majority of children with slow metabolism (inherited from parents), who will then breed together and in turn have children with slow metabolism and so on...that is how it affects the gene pool...thats not to say that there will not be any throwbacks, but the incidence of the children being born with slow metabolisms will be higher.

My response to how lifestyle affects gene pool.
I am no expert in the field so any help would be appreciated.

That sounds about right. A great deal of your overall body shape is determined by genetics.

Just a little FYI:
In the Kingdom of Tonga being obese is a sign of wealth and power, so to the women there fat boys are very attractive.
The king of tonga:
So alot of Tongans are obese, and if they are not obese in there youth, they blow up afterwards.
Basically the fat boys breed alot more than the skinny man with teh abs and the big guns.

Genetic, it seems to be. Yeah. Obesity can be caused by illness, genetics, or lifestyle. For example, some people are naturally fat, and try to lose weight, but can't! Other people (like me) eat like a horse (well, not so much since I came to college, although I have started drinking 6 cups of coffee a day), and look like a rake with a set of ribs two thirds of the way up.

Beauty is relative....Here is a classic lady for this king. This was beauty in the 17th Century.
Notice the gorgeous exquisite and beautiful feet of the man on the right. LAdies love this type of beauty on men in the 17th Century along dead fish emanations of their perspiration.....AHHH...sweat....those pheromones....
Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

Are there any parts of the world that view pale nerds with glasses and slight beer bellies as the male ideal? Just asking. ;)

There are women who find nerdliness extremely hot. They just aren't usually the ones the guys are looking for.

I just don't buy that fatness has that much to do with genetics. How come we have seen such an incredible rise in obesity in the last 3 decades? How come Europeans, Africans, and Asians don't have anywhere near our obesity rate in the US and Canada, but the vast vast majority of us decended from one of these places?
No matter what your genetics are, if you consume more calories then you expend, you will get fat. Metabolism isn't causing anyone to shove cake into their mouth and spend all day watching television.

you really have to admire someone who manages to be extremely morbidly obese. I mean really, you'd have to purposely expend very little energy (since raising your fat fat limbs 10 times a day would probably burn too much), and eat a shitload of food (which would get expensive), defend your grotesque form to yourself, your family and your idiot caretakers (who, if they were smart, would simply strap you to a bed and feed you water and a few Centrums every day for a while), put up with little more than television for entertainment...
really, these are the ascetics of our time
(jks, they're fucking disgusting morons)

I'm not fat in the least... but I can imagine how hard it would be to not eat when your body is telling you that it's starving.
