8 from 14 as well. It must be the Australian average.

Darn, only 11. 7,8, & 11 were my wrong answers. 11 was an oops I probably should've got, but 7&8 are incorrectly scored (that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!).

I missed question 11. Even though I got 13 correct, I guessed because I wasn't sure what a prepositional is.

I didn't check which ones I got right or wrong the first time, so I did it again and got 11. I'm going for 13 next time.

It is Ronald Searle from one of the St Trinian's books. I remember the gerund pictures from reading them as a child and looked it up.
Ironically it is the only reason I know what a gerund is. We certainly didn't study it at school, or if we did I wasn't listening.
We didn't do anything more than basic grammar at school. (The seventies) Most of what I now know, I picked up later from learning Spanish.

got 12. and flat out guessed on a couple. not bad considering the poor excuse of a public educational system in which I was educated as a young lad.
I'm gonna make some of my English major friends take it. One of em, a junior, who brags about her ability to read Shakespeare effortlessly couldn't spell 'infallible' or 'miscellaneous' correctly to save her own life.
I can spell both, no problem, but I need Shakespeare translated into modern English- funny how the brain works.

I've always found Shakespeare's writing to be the biggest load of tedious, uninteresting shite forced upon me as a youngster. I failed every exam with him in and shivered at the thought of facing more of his bollocks.
I did like the Doctor Who portrayal though - a dense womaniser with severe halitosis!
