I occasionally meet a local fundie type, who preaches wherever he can get someone to listen, and he has an argument that I endlessly refute and he always comes back with it next time. It is:

When I refer to the hundreds of different religions, cults and sub cults and say that they all believe with as much certainty as he does he insists he has a "special" argument. He says christianity is the only religion where top prophet claims to be the son of god. His clincher is, "And he would never dare do that if it wasn't true."

There isn't a hell of a lot to be done about him but he is a compulsive proselytiser and I am equally determined to oppose him.

I'll give that a try. I suspect he will "visit" forgiveness on me. "Visiting forgiveness" is one of his comments to less than admiring listeners. Maybe I'll just avoid him.

Be careful. "Visiting forgiveness" (in evangelical speak) on someone might mean some bad shite! For example, "God bless her" in my parts means "Well, isn't s/he a fucking train wreck!"

I think you are on target with that. The last time this soap box preacher "visited forgiveness" on me was after I gave him my views on his bible which he clutches to his chest. He made it clear I was "risking your immortal soul every day you hold these opinions" but "I visit forgiveness on you."

I now interpret this as meaning, "You are in deep shit."
