What do Christians mean by "inspired by God"

Answer:

Since we humans are evolved mutated primates product of coitus, born tabula raza, using our brains to gather information via the 5 senses to navigate the earth...and since the brain is the creator of the bizarre metamagical beliefs ( god & other imaginary friends etc) at the root of all religions as well as schizophrenia & other neurological disorders, it is fair to say that when a christian ( people that believe a sacrifice & resurrected zombie name Jesus the Christ saves with blood for sin) says he/she is inspired by god, this person is simply suggesting an inspiration ( created in the brain) by a bizarre beliefs affecting his/hers cognition, so to be inspired by a god ( imaginary friend) is to be inspired by a neurological malfunction. A sadomasochistic psychopathy since this god is a resurrected zombie that demands blood sacrifice.

We must realize in this 21st century neurology proves Religion ( a bizarre metamagical beliefs conglomerate void of tangible reality) is simply organized schizophrenia.
The DSM-IV (Diagnostic statistical manual of Mental disorders created by ChristPsychotics ca 1840 and followed like a "Bible" by neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologist obviously scared to challenge its antiquated findings, last updated in 2000 ) does not link Zombie God belief at the root of christianity as a mental disorder for obvious reasons.

Schizophrenics are always inspired by their delusions of their god. Crazy is as crazy thinks & does.

Calpurnpiso, a mentally healthy aka atheist intellectual.

Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

It means you should believe in it as it is the truth, but if there are errors and inconsistencies that is because fallible humans wrote it and got some things wrong.

I think it's like gas of the lower GI track or IBS, but you change your shorts more often.

The usual sociopathic cunning. If they claimed it was WRITTEN by God, then they'd be asked to produce the original manuscript as evidence. Much better to evade in advance with the non-disprovable "inspired by" weasel words.
Can you prove my response here wasn't inspired by Madalyn O'Hair's ghost?

Not to worry - the nice Preacher man, with his magic decoder ring, will explain away the apparent errors and inconsistencies.

Don't be so sure. Sadly, PT Barnum was right and there are new suckers born every minute. Take, for example, some of the "younger" religions like Baha'ism or Scientology -- both just a full of bullshit (or moreso, in Scientology's case) as Christianity, and both apparently flourishing. It really is impossible to underestimate the gullibility of the general populace, even in this day and age.
Take, fer instance, Republicanism....

"Inspired by God, written by Man" is basically a way of saying "I want this document to be treated with the highest authority, but have a convienent excuse when any portion is proven to be bullshit" even if it mostly an unconcious thought process.

Glad this thread was revived, there's some good stuff here. Unfortunately I have nothing new to add.

I am also glad, and second your joy.

A theist is just an atheist with a space in it.

Well, bear in mind that if G is omni-everything, he is responsible for everything that happens in the entire universe. That means he's directing your thoughts as you read this right now! Remember, nothing in the universe happens that isn't God's will. That whole freedom of choice thing is a logical fallacy. So if he wanted to make you write the bible, you could just pull it out of your ass! It's not like he has to whisper it in your ear.. he's CONTROLLING YOUR SYNAPSES! He's everywhere! If you stick your finger up someone's ass, that's really God doing it!
