OK, enough cookies. Back to the gun thing.

I am a gun owner, and licensed to carry. There's nothing crazy about self defense. Faith is not going to stop a person trying to shoot me, nor can the police. I am responsible for me and my family. The police only arrive in time to clean up the mess and collect evidence. If you don't carry, you're crazy.

Train, train, train. You are responsible for every bullet that exits the barrel.

Q. Why do you carry?

A. Because I watch the news.

Possessing a gun increases your odds of being shot in an assault -- five times more likely than someone who's unarmed.

"On average, guns did not protect those who possessed them from being shot in an assault. Although successful defensive gun uses occur each year, the probability of success may be low for civilian gun users in urban areas. Such users should reconsider their possession of guns or, at least, understand that regular possession necessitates careful safety countermeasures."

"Investigating the Link Between Gun Possession and Gun Assault", Charles C. Branas et al. November 2009, Vol 99, No. 11 | American Journal of Public Health 2034-2040.

As has been pointed out, guns are how men compensate for the snub-nosed in their pants. Another way is to boast about how huge they are. You haven't mentioned your "12-incher" anywhere, have you Stiney?

My D has nothing to do with my outlook on self defense. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it, and not have it.

Well, my lady loves my wang, so I guess it's standard. But I truly enjoy my Glocks; especially my Glock 19. Best handgun ever invented.

I'm with Stine on this. I'm a liberal lefty and a gun owner. I like to spend time in the wilderness/boonies, I've done it all my life, and I can tell you, shit can and does happen out there.

http://tchester.org/sgm/lists/lion_attacks_ca.html

And the threat doesn't have to be a mountain lion or a brown/grizzly bear, even a rabid fox can totally fuck up an otherwise beautiful day in the woods. All my adult life, whether I'm backpacking or just spending a day reading a book on a river somewhere, I've been armed with something or other. I've recently purchased a stainless Walther PPK/S .380 (with hollowpoints of course) to take the place of my stainless AMT .45 (with hollowpoints of course). Like he said, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I like needing it and having it. One of the perks.
