You get your understanding of reality from television? The boob tube? That is a bit of a problem ...

So from my use of a single analogy, you decide you know how I think? You might have comprehended the last sentence and saved yourself looking stoopid:

These shows don't get written ex nilio, they are based on human history and human psychology.

If I didn't also know "human history and human psychology", and use them to understand reality, I wouldn't be able to compare them to "Star Trek." I picked a common denominator example demonstrating "human history and human psychology" to reach a wider audience and help that wider audience understand.
The alternative would have been rather dry and boring, except for the parts where religion created yet another entirely new way to disembowel someone for "not believing the right things."

Yes, it sounds a lot like cannibalism, but the interesting thing is that it really isn't cannibalism, by any definition and regardless of the beliefs of the person involved: from either an atheist or Catholic perspective, no one is eating a human body. The atheists recognize it as a wafer, and the Catholics don't consider Jesus' body to be human (at least, not right now). If the "spiritual flesh" isn't human, its not cannibalism and metaphorically no different from eating fried chicken.

I could have sworn I asked a question.

Nope. Just looked in the mirror. I saw the same intelligent, well-educated woman I always see. Oops! Wait, no. That was the cat.

That is quite a claim to make. Not many people know "human history" and psychology as comprehensively as you apparently do. I wouldn't say that the audience here would have had any trouble understanding you. You are among the like-minded and a few of them are very well-educated.

Huh? Since when is making an intelligent statement about history or human psychology dry and boring?
Let me put it to you this way. There is very little on TV that reflects an understanding of history. There is very little on TV that reflects an understanding of human psychology except in the sense that the creators of advertising, which is the point of television, understand the consumer mentality very well. TV can teach nothing of value to those who do not bring a healthy understanding of history and reality to it. It fills up those who don't with the most appalling mish-mash of syrupy sentimentality, a completely distorted view of reality and no ability to discern what is good from what is evil. Thus it ultimately dehumanizes them. It simply is not the best source from which to draw analogies, though, of course, sometimes you may come up with very good ones. Star Trek is near and dear to many hearts but it is not the most obvious repository of solid wisdom about the nature of humanity. Since you have an understanding of history, why not draw on it directly?

Given your lack of understanding of reality, I'd say a little more TV and pop-culture might be good for you.

Stop the frigging presses. Catholics declare victory in war on intelligence.

Of course he must abide by Luxury doing anal. He is after all the vicar of Iulius Caesar the Christus in this 21st Century. He is the Pater Patriae (Father Caesar+ HeavenlyKingdom-ROMA), Divi Filius ( Dominus Augustus prince of PEace), and their GENIUS ( protecting spirits of both these men & the CITY OF ROMA) rolled into ONE. The pope is ONE in THREE & Three in ONE.
He assumes ALL the trappings of the resurrected father Caesar, and as He, his utensils are made out of GOLD, His shoes are RED, his color is PURPLE ( Dye made out of Hexaplex trunculus), his Penis is SACRED during proskinesis revered, He must wear the apex of a Flamen Dialis holding the lituus symbol of Penis-Christ & dominion over all animals specially lions. I would not be surprised if his glans is ritually cleansed, holy smegma placed in a gold dish to be burned at a specific time so its genius (smoke) ascends to heaven. I am also certain his gluteous maximus must touch only GOLD Fabric his Holy excreta also ceremoniously disposed of.
A grave mistake this Christ-psychosis infected man makes is that the RELIGIO ROMANA ceremonies he performs are not said in Greek as did the Roman Priests. Greek was the language to talk to GOD not Latin.
Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.

hey mister!
we have an Introduce Yourself section, waiting for you......
One of the most irrational of all the conventions of modern society is the one to the effect that religious opinions should be respected....That they should have this immunity is an outrage. There is nothing in religious ideas, as a class, to lift them above other ideas. On the contrary, they are always dubious and often quite silly.

I see a mistake made by the professor due to semantics.
" She is very religious," said Prof Lech Chyczewski, a blood specialist. "In order to rule out any doubts, it would have been necessary to carry out molecular and genetic testing."
Instead of saying : "She is very religious" he should have said that the lady was severely infected with Christ-psychosis. That would have made the wafer becoming heart tissue "miracle" just another Schizophrenia moment expressed by those poor deluded sick people infected with the faith syndrome.
This poor lady acted like a 4 year old child telling her mother that a little green man is climbing into his bed while the "man" is a praying mantis! Amazing nobody realizes the BRAIN creates those delusions accepting them as reality when it malfunctions.
Professor Maria Sobaniec-Lotowaska is simply a THEOTARD, like Francis Collins that never should have been given a science degree or teacher's license while suffering from such delusions accepting disorder...and this lady is a PROFESSOR?
Can anyone imagine the amount of misinformation she teaches to students? This is the problem in the world today. The Intellect stagnating Faith-psychosis, the virulent brain "cancer" nobody seems to see.
Christians and other folks infected with delusional beliefs think and reason like schizophrenics or temporal lobe epileptics. Their morality is dictated by an invisible friend called Jesus.
