Flight Simulator X

Well, with some help from other member here, I've built myself an excellent computer. And after replacing a defective hard drive and messing around with it for a year, I've gotten myself into Microsoft Flight Simulator X. And I must admit, I'm hooked. I've taken some flight lessons in my earlier years in a small Cessna, and after playing FSX, it has brought back some fond memories. Right now, I'm using the Saitek X52 Pro flight control system and it's working quite well. At first, I was going to get the yoke and pedal system, but I thought the joystick would be much better overall for all aircraft, including the helicopters. I do plan on getting the pedals and then yoke sometime in the near future. In fact, I'm thinking about setting up a system to really get the most out of FSX. One of the main questions I have is should I have 3 monitors or 4. Right now, I'm running a single 24" monitor, and it sucks. I don't have nearly enough visual to fly correctly. I was originally thinking about 3 monitors, but I don't know if the single monitor in the center would be enough. I'm hoping someone else here has a love for FSX and can give some good advice. And I don't want this thread to be all about my system. I'm hoping that if anyone here enjoys FSX, then they will post any information or pictures that they may have.

I had and loved the first Flight Simulator that became MS FS, It was by Bruice Artwick. It ran on painfully archaic machines, as early as Windows 3.5. It was so advanced in the graphics and simulation techniques that it used every trick in the IBM PC book, so much so that it became the standard for proving hardware compatibility to the IBM PC for any new system on the market.

I have owned every Artwick version and every MS version since he sold out it, up to almost the latest one.

I have been collecting old and surplus instruments to build a realistic instrument panel to put under my flat-screen monitor. I do not have multiple monitors because most of my work couldn't take advantage of extras.

It is nice to see someone else enjoys FS, though I'm not sure what it has to do with atheism.

Pretty much vanilla PC:
3GHz CPU, 1GB RAM, current graphics card, sound card, Windows XP-Pro
Bunches of ISB slots
the usual peripherals
Hi-Res thin screen monitor
MS wireless Joystick

Any price information is out of date before it is said, as is the equipment.
good luck
