It's a war on terror right? The whole of terror and nothing but terror? Let's see what Supreme Leader Bush's war on the verb had and will accomplish...

Afghanistan- Taliban, burqas, terror, definitely a no-brainer.
Iraq- Saddam, terror, oil, another no-brainer if there ever was one.

Okay, that's two oil-related countries conquered and certified terror-free (except for the poor bastards living there of course), where next?

Iran- Axis of Evil, burqas, WMDs (sound familiar?) definitely next on the list.
N.Korea- Axis of Evil, King Jong il, famine, WMDs (yawn), S. Korea already a US vassal, heck why not?
Indonesia- Islamic fundamentalism on the rise, poverty, terror, bombings, oil, perfect choice.
People's Republic of China- Communist, dirt-cheap labour force, WMDs, it's only logical.
Saudi Arabia- Fundie breeding ground, burqas, terror, oil,... OiL??? When can we start?
Russia- Mafia, WMDs, terror, next!

and that leaves....the US and BlairLand!

If it had been up to me, I would have sent CIA operatives to assist the Northen Alliance in fighting the Taliban. That would save the trouble of sending American troops, who are unfamiliar with the language and the terrain.
As much as possible, I would try to use proxy forces to remain discreet.

As for Iraq, I probably wouldn't have bothered to invade. I would make it clear to Saddam however, that if he was ever discovered to be aiding our enemies, there would be war.

Nation-building is a tricky business, so I would probably try to avoid prolonged occupations.

On a side note, I would like to add that one way of decreasing terrorism and reducing poverty in the third world would be to legalize heroin and cocaine. If those drugs were legal, prices would drop, and there would be less money going to terrorists. Also, the revenue from the drug trade would pump some money into stagnant economies.

I guess if Al Qaeda had killed 3,000 people in London you would invite bin Laden to a peace conference in Geneva to work things out.
