Open Access and ID November 4, 2006
Posted by ocmpoma in : open access, supernaturalism , trackbackI’ve been putzing around in the area of open access lately, and have found what I think are several great sources of scholarly journals, one of which is the Directory of Open Access Journals. Tons of journals, tons and tons of articles, and all you need is a browser and a .pdf reader.
But.
I came across one article, titled “Human Origins and Intelligent Design,” by Casey Luskin. I thought that perhaps it was another example of a legitimate scientist pointing out the flaws of ID. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. The article is available on the site of the International Society for Complexity, Information, and Design, which is yet another ID mouthpiece. One of its founders is none other than William Dembski. ‘Nough said.
So, I shot off an email to the director of the DOAJ, Mr. Jorgensen (lotte.jorgensen@lub.lu.se), informing him (politely, of course!) that such articles, journals, and institutions are hardly the examples of scholarly research which the open access movement needs in order to establish credibility.
Take a look at the site, it’s great. Take a look at the article, too, and let Mr. Jorgensen know that, while everyone at DOAJ is doing a great job, some psuedoscience has slipped through the cracks.
