I know it’s been a few days already; and I haven’t really hit out on politics directly as of yet.

That said, CFR has got a nice little collection of responses from poli-sci scholars to the President’s recent speech.

My response? Wait and see.

Arms Control Wonk has a nice post up regarding the Polonium used to kill Alexander Litvinenko.

They’ve got a quote up (source linked in the post): “Without nanotechnology you would be talking about a fairly big pill, a pea-sized pill.”

One of the common themes I have come across studying Russian history and culture is the idea that Russians, as a people, desire a strong leader. Often this is expressed with the none-to-subtle hint that they would prefer a strong-willed despot to a weak but democratic leadership. In other words, the average Russian, according to this line of thinking, will tell you that Stalin was a better leader than was Yeltsin.
