Posted by ocmpoma in : politics , 3commentsOne of the common themes I have come across studying Russian history and culture is the idea that Russians, as a people, desire a strong leader. Often this is expressed with the none-to-subtle hint that they would prefer a strong-willed despot to a weak but democratic leadership. In other words, the average Russian, according to this line of thinking, will tell you that Stalin was a better leader than was Yeltsin.
